Fees

The cost for therapy is $150 for a 50-minute session. I accept cash, checks, or credit cards. The payment will be due at the beginning of each session. If you are unable to attend a session, please contact me 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time or you may be charged for the session. I also provide a limited number of sliding-scale slots for clients who are dedicated to counseling but need a reduction in cost. If a sliding scale feels like the right fit, please mention it and we can discuss an adjustment in price.

I am not affiliated with any insurance plans. I am happy to provide you a superbill so you can pursue reimbursement through your insurance plan. Keep in mind, not everything people want support with in counseling is covered by insurance companies. Usually, you need to meet criteria for a diagnosable disorder where treatment is deemed “medically necessary.” (For example: Major Depressive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, etc.) Also keep in mind that when a mental health diagnosis is used, it becomes part of your medical record. And obtaining reimbursement gives insurance companies the legal right to access your therapy records. Access to therapy records might reveal additional information like your symptoms, substance use, and personal history. Think carefully about the balance you would like to strike between using insurance to help reimburse for expenses and how much confidentiality is important to you.

If you would like to pursue reimbursement, read of your insurance plan carefully. It may also be helpful to ask your insurance provider the following questions:
· Do I have mental or behavioral health benefits?
· What is my deductible and has it been met?
· How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
· What is my co-pay for seeing an out-of-network provider?
· How many sessions does my plan cover?
· Do I have to get pre-authorized approval before I start therapy?
· Is there any specific information you require on bills for services?
